How it works

The minimum commitment is 3 months. That is the right time frame for any company to see what is possible with research.

Week 1: Understanding the business and its challenges
Week 2: Identifying the most pressing areas of research where early wins can be secured and implemented
Weeks 3, 4: Setting up the research process - Recruitment via database, training your team on how to talk to consumers and how to distill findings to insights
Weeks 5, 6: Research in motion: The in-house teams do the work and collate findings
Weeks 7, 8: Working with teams to go from findings to insights which lead to a clear outcome for the business
Weeks 9-12: Refinement and repetition of the above, along with building processes for self-sufficiency from week 13.

Time commitment needed

I know that in startups, time is the more valuable resource. Hence, I’ve structured this offering to take the minimum amount of time from founders, while maximising knowledge transfer to your reporting teams.

Since I come from a consumer insights, AdTech and content background, I am well-placed to offer you a variety of research-centred offerings, based on your needs. I am unsure if I need your offering - can you help me decide?

Certainly. I feel any business decision - from deciding to start to deciding to go global - can benefit from research. The difference lies in the level of research. When you’re in the 10 ->100 stage, you do not need a large market research organisation to give you a fancy report. What you need are the insights relevant to your business, with data, team and bandwidth you have.

I would say my offering is relevant to you if you’re a D2C company…

Whose revenue is highly reliant on performance marketing
That launches products / SKUs without proper validation
Which always felt research would help but was unsure how to go about it

Your flagship offering says 3 months. Is this hard and fast?

On the lower end, yes. In my 15-year experience, that is the minimum amount of time needed to set up internal structures capable of deriving insights, AND put them to use for you. And while you will not need me post 3 months, I am happy to stay on to build out capacity further or work on other projects.

What is needed from an organisation’s side for your offering?

I ask for three things: Relevant data, time from the founder (1 hour a week), and time from the team (2-3 hours for your reporting teams). Nothing else is needed - no subscriptions, no additional recruitment costs, no nasty surprises later on. I will recommend something only if I feel it is absolutely needed for you, and I will have no financial stake in that.

Will you also help me craft brand narrative?

Professionally, this is not something that I do. However, I have two advantages:

I have a wide network of trusted allies who can do this for you, including the co-founder of one of my other businesses.
I know enough of brand strategy and storytelling in order to join the dots and act as a bridge between you and whoever is going to be developing your brand.

Will I be interacting with you or a member of your team?

I run a solo business, so I will be working hands-on with you myself on this project. I may rope in sectoral experts as and when needed, but I will be leading it and will be your point of contact at all times.

A lot of the info we have is confidential… How will you work around that?

I have been in research, AdTech and sales all my life - and I get the importance of confidentiality. I can sign an NDA and any contract you require. Moreover, the association is structured in a way where I need minimum raw data from you - it’s mostly going to be your team working on it. If needed, we can even work on a model where I am able to access your confidential data only from your office network.

Will you help me hire for my internal research team?

My program is structured to make research part of your workflow without needing external resources. However, each startup and setup is unique, so if we mutually decide it is needed, I will be a part of it. I cannot recruit for you, but can be a part of the hiring process.
